The Painted Strings Project

The Painted Strings Project was born when a bundle of stringed instruments, loved literally to pieces by local school children through the years, made its way to Chris and Pepper Hagebak of 809 Gallery. Inspiration struck, and they decided that the instruments could be repurposed to benefit local youth string programs. With the guidance of the LaGrange Symphony Guild, a plan to involve local artists, art and music lovers, and the community, this silent auction came to fruition. The battered violins and cellos were given to artists with instructions to paint them as they felt inspired to do so, and the results were far beyond expectation.

About LaGrange Symphony Guild

The LaGrange Symphony Guild is an organization whose mission is to support the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra and its youth outreach initiatives, including the Lagrange Symphony Youth Orchestra, the String Project, and Summer Music Camp. With your help, the Guild can contribute over $20,000 each year which places instruments in the hands of children and makes a difference in their lives and in the future of our community.
