22nd ANNUAL PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT & BENEFIT AUCTION

ABOUT THE AUCTION

For the past 21 years, our Annual Auction solely supported our student scholarship fund, a fund that makes it possible for In-Sight to provide financially accessible after-school arts programming for all. This year's Auction will be a Virtual Archive show, showcasing years of past donations from artists all online. We will also be splitting the proceeds from our Auction with two other organizations: Youth FX of Albany, NY and The Root Social Justice Center of Brattleboro, VT. In-Sight has been well supported by our donors, the greater photo and arts community and we feel it is important to share that support during these extraordinary times. 30% of the Auction proceeds will go to Youth FX and 30% to The Root Social Justice Center. The remaining 40% will go to our student scholarship fund as it has for 22 years, ensuring access to safe and welcoming arts programming where students are encouraged to engage with mentors, ask questions, express themselves, and make positive choices.

Our Annual Benefit Auction has always been an event where a broad community of artists and In-Sight supporters come together to put on an exhibition that showcases the wide breadth of creativity and vision present in the photo world. We are so grateful to be able to continue this fundraising tradition while also being able to support other organizations in our community. The auction would not be possible without the artists who have donated their work, nor would it be possible without the hundreds of faithful bidders who turn out to buy the work. This year, let's show up not only for In-Sight and our students but for Youth FX and The Root Social Justice Center and all the work they do. When one organization in our community thrives, all of us thrive.

You can find out more about Youth FX and the Root Social Justice Center below.

Youth FX
http://www.youthfx.org/

Youth FX was founded in 2008 by Bhawin Suchak and a trio of young people, Darian Henry, Majestic Tilman, and Rashid Howell–who continue to be leaders in the program to this day. Youth FX Summer–their six-week intensive–is the flagship program that has laid the foundation of all youth programs that come out of Youth FX.

In 2016, Youth FX became a 501c3 organization and greatly expanded in scope and reach. In addition to their summer intensive, they currently run year-round programs that engage nearly 600 youth between the ages of 10 and 24. From after-school programming at Albany High to after-school workshops at Albany Public library, they also have our 5-Hour Film Project, and their nationally recognized NeXt Doc Fellowship, which aims to support diverse non-fiction filmmakers between the ages of 20-24.

With the growth of their organization, they have also begun to develop career pathways in the film and digital media industry throughout PA (production Assistant) Institute, NeXt Doc, and the creation of a full-service production company Rogue FX, which is staffed by talented alumni of Youth FX.

The Root Social Justice Center
