Gusto Pizza Co.'s Annual Take A Slice Out Of Hunger Charity Golf Classic was created in 2015 to help alleviate hunger in Central Iowa. All proceeds from the event benefit Joppa. Gusto also supports the Iowa Food Bank, Central Iowa Shelter & Services and many other organizations dedicated to ending hunger and homelessness.

Our mission is to create communities of unconditional love, support and hope for the homeless as we work together to prevent and ultimately end homelessness.

Rather than relying on government funding or creating redundant services, Joppa collaborates with other agencies, helps people access resources, and develops unique programs that fill gaps and meet unmet needs in outreach, housing and education.

Each week, Joppa volunteers visit 250 – 300 people living under bridges, in tents, vehicles and recently off the streets.

Joppa depends entirely on private donations from individuals, families, churches, sponsors and other organizations. As a result of this support, Joppa has helped over 311 men, women and children end their homelessness since 2008, more than 85% remain off the streets.

Joppa is a local, volunteer-driven organization with less than 10% overhead which means 90% of each gift benefits the people most in need right here in our community.
