Great Tew Cricket 6s Charity Fun-day 2023

On Saturday 16th September 2023 we are organising a cricket sixes competition and fun day to raise money for the Lawrence Home Nursing Team and a village family who have been affected by motor neurone disease.

The cricket six-a-side tournament will run from 11am, and from 2pm there will be side stalls, a raffle, cricket teas and a BBQ. From 6pm in the evening after the tournament, there will be a hog roast (6pm), served with local ale and cider, a lucky square football game (in which the lucky winner/winners will go home with £200 cash) and - by popular demand - the return of the brilliant local band Different Wavelengths, who will play a set of danceable bangers from 7pm.

The event is being held at the Great and Little Tew Cricket Ground, Ledwell Lane, Great Tew OX7 4AQ.

All money raised will be split between the Lawrence Home Nursing Team ( https://www.lawrencehomenursing.org) with 25% going to the Pratley family

About Great Tew Cricket 6s Charity Fun-day

We are a small village team who held our first charity fun-day last September and raised £11,000 for the Pratleys, a village family affected by Motor Neurone Disease.

We have decided to make this an annual event. This year, alongside continuing to support the Pratley family, we will be raising funds for the Lawrence Home Nursing Team (https://www.lawrencehomenursing.org), a charity set up over 24 years ago in memory of a Chipping Norton GP Dr Martin Lawrence who received extensive nursing care in his home after being diagnosed with a terminal illness. It was his wish that other patients choosing to remain at home would be able to have the benefit of this type of practical and emotional support to complement existing services.

Since then, the LHN Team has grown in expertise, passion, and numbers, providing specialist end-of-life care in the homes of thousands of patients. Families in Great Tew have benefited from this vital care, and it was the choice of the Parish to support them.
