AOB 10th Anniversary

Join us as we celebrate 10 years of engaging AOB school visits. We have a wonderful selection of book-themed items available for auction, including Zoom bedtime stories, original artwork, curated book baskets, book subscription services, graphic novel book bundles and more! All funds raised during the auction will go toward purchasing books for upcoming AOB author and illustrator events.

An Open Book Foundation connects authors, illustrators and their books with Washington, DC-area students to build equitable access and nurture a lifelong love of reading. We support literacy by bringing authors and illustrators into classrooms where they share their books and insights into their journeys as writers or artists. After every presentation, each student receives a copy of the book for their home library and has the opportunity to have a short one-on-one conversation with the author as their book is signed. AOB also gives copies of the author's other titles to the classroom and school libraries, extending the impact of the event beyond the day. Our programming also includes extension activities, book groups, and artists-in-residence. We partner with schools where at least 50% of the students qualify for the National School Lunch Program.
