Zambezi-18 Silent Auction

In October 2018, Mark, Andy and Craig will be taking on the beast that is the Zambezi River, in order to raise as much money as they can for Kidney Research UK.

This auction has been designed to raise additional funds for Kidney Research UK.

All proceeds are going directly to the charity.

In October 2018 an Architect, an Air Traffic Controller and an IT Manager are going to raft over 30km down the Zambezi River through Zambia and Zimbabwe, through some of the biggest and fastest waters with the highest concentration of Grade 5 White Water Rapids in the world.

What could possibly go wrong?!

And why are they doing this?!

Many of you will no doubt be aware that Mark Camidge's wife Rachael had been in final stage renal failure for nearly three years, and had been on daily dialysis for nearly as long. She was on the transplant register, and this fundraising trip was organised in order to help research into the disease and to raise as much money as possible for Kidney Research UK.

Then, at 3am on Friday 3rd August, everything changed.

Rachael got the call that all transplant patients dream of - a donor kidney had been found. By 1pm that same day, Rachael was in theatre undergoing a kidney transplant, and was home less than a week after the procedure. So far, it is all looking good and Rachael is recovering well.

None of this would have been possible without the amazing NHS Staff, the Donor Register and the incredible research by Kidney Research UK to enable transplants to happen.

So all of a sudden, the desire to raise money and get more donor registered people is even more important to us, as it has saved Rachael's life.

We have organised this Silent Auction as an additional fundraiser for Zambezi-18. All proceeds raised will go to the Charity. Mark, Andy and Craig are self-funding the whole trip, meaning that every penny raised will go directly to Kidney Research UK.

We are also encouraging people to sign up to the organ donor register - just one person can potentially save up to 7 others.
