Washington Woods is a diverse school that serves students from all economic and cultural backgrounds. It is one of only two Title I schools in Westfield, meaning that twenty-eight percent of students qualify for free and reduced lunch, and many more are just slightly above that qualification. Therefore, PTO funds are vital to ensuring that all students have a robust academic experience. Funds raised will support literacy and math programs along with the school’s Leader In Me certification/curriculum, a program that helps create well-rounded learners by developing the whole-person and preparing students to become life-ready leaders. This type of program is essential to providing our school’s diverse population with the instruction and support they need to not only achieve in school, but to be confident in their abilities as they move through life. Our hope is that students leave Washington Woods not only having become better students, but overall better human beings that have executive functioning skills in all aspects of life. We believe every child in our building can be a leader and that it takes finding the right opportunities that allow students to unleash their leadership potential.
