Anchored in more than 10,000 neighborhoods around the country, the Y has the long-standing relationships and physical presence not just to promise, but to deliver, lasting personal and social change. Though the world may be unpredictable, one thing remains certain—the Y is, and always will be, dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected and secure children, adults, families and communities.

The Y has served the Greater Des Moines Community for over 150 years. While our programs and facilities are always based on the unique needs and interests of our communities, every Y has one thing in common: our people. The volunteers, staff, members and donors of the Y are all united by a deep commitment to strengthening community.

The Walnut Creek YMCA began serving the community in 1981 and has expanded twice to meet the needs of our growing community. We continue to break down barriers and create access for our most vulnerable citizens through programs like Parent’s Night Out, Girls on the Run, STRIDE, Youth Sports, Swim Lessons, Saturday Night Live, Group Exercise Classes, STEM, Day Camps, and Medical Programming. At the Y, we believe we have something special—a sense of community—and that everyone should have access to it, along with the programs and services that help us learn, grow and thrive. With your help, we were proud to share the Y with children, seniors and families who otherwise might not have become part of our Y family.
