About Our Auction

AKA How the f*** is this s*** still happening??

Every day I'm horrified and overcome by a sense of helplessness when I read horrifying accounts of how terribly and inhumanely people are being treated at our southern border. Knowing people are suffering so badly and not knowing how to help. It's beyond words. Right now, I feel like my time is best spent working on raising money to give to organizations who are sending lawyers down to help helpless asylum seekers, and who are trying to enact legislation so these horrors stop happening, and never happen again.

Last September I hosted "Spin To Win", a DJ-Palooza at Hanks Saloon in Brooklyn where we raffled off 30 incredible prizes, charged at the door, and raised $2500 that we split between the ACLU and Make The Road New York, a NY-based organization that fights for immigrants' rights.

With Hanks Saloon sadly being gone, I figured an even better way to raise more money for this crucial cause would be to hit up my friends in high places for some incredible, one-of-a-kind items across multiple categories, and host an auction online. The response and prizes have been overwhelmingly awesome, and I cannot fully express my appreciation for everyone who's sent incredible prizes or pledged their time.

Please bid like your life depends on it, because lots of lives do! Thank you in advance to everyone who helps promote this online, and bids. You are awesome, and you'll hopefully end up with a prize as awesome as you are!

About ACLU

WHAT'S AT STAKE

When the government has the power to deny legal rights and due process to one vulnerable group, everyone’s rights are at risk. The ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project is dedicated to expanding and enforcing the civil liberties and civil rights of immigrants and to combating public and private discrimination against them.

Using targeted impact litigation, advocacy, and public outreach, the ACLU protects the rights and liberties of immigrants. For more than 25 years, the ACLU has been at the forefront of almost every major legal struggle on behalf of immigrants’ rights, focusing on challenging laws that deny immigrants access to the courts, impose indefinite and mandatory detention, and discriminate on the basis of nationality. In addition, we have challenged constitutional abuses that arise from immigration enforcement at the federal, state, and local levels, including anti-immigrant “show me your papers” laws at the state level and unconstitutional enforcement tactics by the federal government and local agencies.
