About Our Auction

Due to the COVID19 pandemic, it was impossible for NTDC Thunder Bay to host our annual November Nordicfest fundraising dinner and auction. The Nordicfest event and the community support it traditionally galvanizes has been one of the reasons why the National Team Development Centre has continued to thrive in Thunder Bay for almost 25 years. So to help replace some of those important fundraising dollars, we are running this online auction. We hope you can assist us in reimagining our event this year in these challenging times.

This past year certainly was unique in its challenges for our team, with numerous lockdowns and no domestic competitions. However there also were some high points and rewards - opportunities for our high level athletes to focus on an extended training season, and some to represent Canada at World U23 competitions, World Cups and World Championships.

Now it is time for us to look ahead to next season. We sincerely hope you can help us as we move forward by supporting this event.

Many, many thanks must be given to the numerous private individuals and businesses who made this event possible through their generous donations of auction items.

About NTDC Thunder Bay

The National Team Development Centre Thunder Bay is a community based organization working to provide elite cross country skiers with intensive training and competition programs. Since 1993 NTDC has been developing champion skiers, and also the coaches and wax technicians who strengthen the fabric of high performance and grassroots Nordic skiing in our city, our province and the whole country.

Building on the legacy of the 1995 Nordic World Championships, our athletes and staff proudly have represented Thunder Bay and Canada on the National Ski Team, and around the world at countless FIS World Cups, Nordic World Championships and World Junior/U23 Championships.

All of this has raised the profile of Nordic skiing in Thunder Bay to a level that few communities in Canada can match. By attracting and training high level athletes, coaches and events, NTDC has helped to anchor our community in the provincial and national Nordic ski scenes. NTDC coaches, athletes and technicians work closely with Cross Country Ski Ontario (XCSO) and Nordiq Canada, and our organization maintains strong relationships with the diverse clubs and organizations that make up the Thunder Bay ski community.

The NTDC program provides role models who exemplify what it means to strive for excellence, inspire us with their passionate pursuit of their dreams, and act as role models and ambassadors for healthy active living.
