MT Space Majdi Bou-Matar Bursary Fundraiser

The Majdi Bou-Matar Memorial Bursary is an annual bursary that is dedicated to offering financial support as well as mentorship from MT Space to a newcomer, immigrant, and/or emerging artist each year. Its purpose is to maintain Majdi's legacy, honour his struggles, and alleviate some of the challenges he faced as an artist in Canada.

In order to sustain the longevity of the Majdi Bou-Matar Bursary, we have a goal to establish an endowment fund in partnership with the Waterloo Region Community Foundation. This will ensure that the bursary will permanently continue to support an emerging Racialized or Indigenous artist year after year. We invite you to contribute to establishing this much-needed endowment fund by participating in our silent auction.

Since 2004, MT Space has maintained a commitment to working with artists from Indigenous, immigrant, refugee and other marginalized and racialized communities. MT Space has grown from being a company that produces one show every year to an organization that brings culturally and socially relevant work from across the country and around the world to our communities in Waterloo Region. We have challenged the preconceptions of theatre to create, produce, and present work that is accessible and affordable to low-income families while creating a space for Indigenous, immigrant, refugee, racialized and marginalized voices to be heard.
