About Our Auction

Sponsor a trail and help MRWA build more singletrack trails!

We accomplished big goals in 2019: Duck 'n Run and the McIntosh Run Bridge connect Spryfield and Herring Cove through the magnificent terrain of the McIntosh Run Watershed. MRWA has hired a trail crew to work full time for the summer and fall to build more amazing trails in the McIntosh Run Singletrack Trail System, and we need your support!

How does the Trail Sponsorship Auction work?
We are auctioning sponsorship of seven trails and the Bridge for a 2-year term. If you win the auction for a trail, your support is recognized at each trail sign, online maps, MRWA website and social media. Most importantly, you will be supporting a project that improves the health and happiness of Halifax residents, attracts new residents and visitors, and fosters appreciation for natural wild places.

If your bid is not the winner or the trail auction doesn't suit you, we hope that you will consider making a contribution another way. There are other options to support MRWA as an individual (https://mcintoshrun.ca/donate-to-trails/) or as a sponsor (https://mcintoshrun.ca/sponsorship/).

MRWA has applied for a grant from the Province of Nova Scotia that requires 2/3 matching funds, so every $100 donation leverages $50 from the Province. 150% of your donation goes to building trails!

Your sponsorship will help us build three new trails in 2020:
Clark Kent - An easy access trail from Hartlen Park in Spryfield that will follow Governor’s Brook and connect to Divide
A 2.5-km expert technical trail in the McIntosh Run Regional Park
Joe Cracker - An easy flow trail at the Norawarren trailhead

We also aim to invest in Nora, Warren and Upper West Pine to provide more beginner-friendly experiences.

About McIntosh Run Watershed Association

The McIntosh Run Watershed Association (MRWA) is a volunteer community group that promotes conservation and community stewardship of the McIntosh Run watershed. To facilitate access and foster appreciation for the river and its watershed, MRWA is building and maintaining a network of sustainable singletrack trails for non-motorized recreation between Spryfield and Herring Cove.

VISION:
A network of sustainable singletrack trails that enhances stewardship of the Watershed, preserves integrity of the Watershed’s natural values, and provides benefits for nonmotorized trail users, the community, and visitors.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES:
Environmental stewardship of the watershed
High-quality, sustainable trails that provide memorable experiences for residents and visitors
Respect for First Nations traditional territory and land uses
Respect and understanding between diverse nonmotorized trail users
Partnerships and collaboration with land owners, other associations, and businesses
Benefits for residents of adjacent communities, greater Halifax, and visitors.

New trails in 2020-21: Something for everyone!

"Clark Kent" and "Joe Cracker" are easy trails at either end of the trail network, offering entry-level singletrack opportunities for new trail users, and some flowy fun for everyone.

"Time Flies", "Time Out" and "Wrinkle" challenge advanced trail users and showcase more amazing terrain in the McIntosh Run Watershed.

"Orange Jelly" and "Granitude" add 2 km and a new access trail in the middle of the network. The fun lines and flow are sure to bring smiles to a lot of trail users!

We have also invested in trail maintenance and upgrades on the existing trail network.

Trails are approved under land use agreements with the landowners — the city of Halifax and Provincial Crown land managed by NS-DLF.
