Stargazer Gala Silent Auction

The Nantucket Maria Mitchell Association’s annual fundraising event has been reimagined as The Stargazer Gala, a sold-out event hosted at a private home overlooking Nantucket Sound.

The Stargazer Gala will include a silent auction that is available online before the event. Online bidding will close on August 4th, the day before the Stargazer Gala. All items that are bid for online will be moved to the in-person auction and the highest online bid will become the starting bid. If no one at the in-person auction bids higher than the online price, the package will be sold to the online bidder. Online bidding will not be available during the event, even if in-person bidding exceeds the online bid.

There will be a "buy it now" option for the packages available online with a set price. Anyone who purchases an item through "buy it now" automatically wins the package and can pay online through the auction site. Those items would then not be available at the in-person event. If you really want a package, we highly recommend using the "buy it now" online feature if you won't be attending the Stargazer Gala.

The Maria Mitchell Association (MMA) was founded in 1902 to preserve the legacy of Nantucket native astronomer, naturalist, librarian, and educator, Maria Mitchell. The MMA operates two observatories, a natural science museum, an aquarium, a research center and preserves the historic birthplace of Maria Mitchell. A wide variety of science and history-related programming is offered throughout the year for people of all ages.
