About Our Auction

LPAPA's 4th Annual Waterworks, a juried watercolor art show, is being presented as an online virtual gallery exhibition and sale, with special pricing and an auction feature, in response to the continued restrictions and challenges related to the pandemic. This provides a unique opportunity for the collectors to add a special work of art to their collection, and support LPAPA and the Artists!

This annual watercolor show is made possible through the support of the Joe Hanks Van Cleave Foundation for the Arts. Proceeds from the sale of artwork benefit the artists and nonprofit LPAPA.

The artists each generously donate 50% of the full gallery price to support LPAPA. In an effort to encourage support of its Artists, LPAPA is reducing its usual 50% share of the sales price to 20%, passing along a potential 30% savings to the Collector. We've added an auction feature and buy-now opportunity to encourage friendly competitive buying and added support for LPAPA!

All artwork is available with a starting price of 70% of the full value gallery price, with auction bidding at a minimum of $10 increase increments. The artists will receive his or her full 50% of the gallery price, and LPAPA will receive the portion of sale proceeds above the artist's full sales commission.

In addition, all artwork is being sold unframed, allowing the Collector the opportunity to enjoy lower unframed prices, and to make his or her own choice of framing…and, Randy Higbee of King of Frame is offering LPAPA Waterwork collectors a 40% discount on framing!

Exhibition dates are July 13 - 19, 2020, with sales commencing Wednesday July 15th at 10:00 am, and ending Sunday July 19th at 7:15 pm.

LPAPA is hosting a Virtual Reception & Awards Presentation on Sunday, July 19th, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with awards to be announced at 6:00 pm. A limited number of virtual seats are available with free entry. Visit our website to learn more and reserve your (virtual) seat! https://lpapa.org/050420-art-show-waterworks-watercolor-2020/

About Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA)

The Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA) was founded in Laguna Beach in 1996 with a mission to preserve the history of the plein air movement of 19th century California, to support the tradition as it exists today, and to foster a network among plein air painters nationwide (and globally).

LPAPA is considered the stewards of Laguna’s plein air legacy, which established our town as an artists’ colony in 1903. Early plein air artists -- Edgar Payne, Anna Hills, William Wendt, and others -- founded the original Laguna Beach Art Association and opened the first art gallery in 1918. The permanent collection the Association started later established the town’s museum. LPAPA is committed to continuing the plein air painting tradition and preserving the Laguna Plein Air Painting legacy -- past, present and future.

Your support will help us keep the plein air painting tradition alive for future generations! Thank you!
