Light of Our Future Art Auction

The artwork in this auction is contributed and donated by children and adult artists to benefit Children National patients and the programs provided by Art Impact USA.

Washington, DC – Creative and Therapeutic Arts Services (CTAS) at Children’s National, in collaboration with Art Impact USA, has a three-month-long art exhibit open to patients, families, visitors, and staff. The "Light of Our Future" exhibition opens October 1, 2016 and runs through January 14, 2017. The schedule includes live musical performances, children’s book fairs, art workshops, and a benefit art auction. All events will be held at Children's National Health System located at 111 Michigan Avenue NW Washington, DC 20010. CTAS and Patient Experience at Children’s National, has provided programming to patients, families and staff since 1978. A small but dedicated team of trained professionals works to foster an atmosphere of empowerment and support to their inpatients, outpatients and their families. The team offers colorful creative choices, soothing sounds, imaginative opportunities and inviting galleries and exhibits.

“We are thrilled to host such a colorful and diverse exhibit, that will empower our patients and their families through creativity – which is the atmosphere that we aim for,” said CTAS gallery and exhibit coordinator Greg Scott.”

The mission is to combine the healing power of art, art therapy, therapeutic music, harp therapy, animal visitations and performing arts to help our patients heal, to assist patients with their pain and symptom relief, empower self-awareness and emotional expression for coping skills, ease anxiety, provide a creative outlet for depressed patients, and enhance family and social relationships. With a focus on healing, health, and joy, “Light of Our Future” will de-stress as well as entertain everyone.

The youth of today are the light of our future. Young patients and their families need brightened spirits, hearts and minds. The selected artists and musicians use their talents to produce works to inspire the children to have hope, know they matter, encourage their healing and present reasons for them to grow stronger.
