Dear John

This is an art auction for the Dear John Charity Event being held in Port Macquarie on the 18th of June 2016 to raise funds for our dear friend Shawn Komidar.

Bidding will close online at 12pm on the day of the auction and all items will be available for in-person bidding on the day at the event until 6pm. Should you win the auction you will be notified on the day.

Sometimes in life really great people get dealt really tough hands. Shawn Komidar from Port Macquarie is one of those people.

At 29 years of age the osteoarthritis that has been degenerating his joints and bones has finally reached the point where, without treatment, he will become permanently disabled. He now cannot maintain his work life because his ankles have become so weak that he cannot walk on them for even a short period of time without experiencing debilitating pain.

If you know him that would come as a complete shock because you would never have heard him complain, reach out for help, or let you know that the treatment he needs is not listed on the PBS (so it gets no Government subsidy) which makes it heartbreakingly unaffordable to someone who is just starting in life.

The only reason we are writing this now is because his Mum has reached out and let us know about how bleak his longterm outlook is so we can keep an extra close eye on him.
