Crayons Matter is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to educate children globally and locally while inspiring their imaginations through crayons and basic school supplies.
OUR MISSION
The mission of Crayons Matter is to inspire children to uncover their potential and purpose through creative art by providing much needed backpacks filled with school supplies such as crayons, paper, colored pencils, pencils, pencil sharpeners, and inspiration artwork created by children in the United States for a child to call his or her own. If we can first inspire, then we can make the connection to growth and opportunity. Children are the future leaders of their communities and countries. Through creative thought, they can aspire to become teachers, nurses, doctors, business owners, or the next president – and give back to their communities. Our commitment to our partner schools is to lay the groundwork for a consistent, positive, and responsible service footprint.
About Crayons Matter
The non-profit called Crayons Matter provides much needed school supplies such as crayons, paper, and backpacks to children in struggling regions of Africa and other global and local communities (Greensboro, too!) Our goal is deliver 800 backpacks filled with supplies and art to Ghana this year.
Our fundraiser will be held LIVE at the The O’Brien Gallery in Greensboro, NC on Saturday, May 18th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.

One piece of art in each backpack created by children in our local communities to ensure every backpack is touched by a child from the United States.
Crayons Matter background Information:
Our Cause: In 2011, Brad and I (Courtenay Fields) had the extraordinary opportunity to travel to Africa where we discovered the importance of educating children globally on the basics of health and hygiene through creative thinking. After teaching children in the Volta Region of Ghana and then traveling with Brad to Tanzania to see first-hand the importance of supplying children with basic school supplies like crayons and paper, this incredible experience motivated us to seek out partnerships with schools in Ghana with the goal of delivering essential school supplies to children in need.
Our Hope: Through Crayons Matter, our hope is that we can educate children globally on personal health and hygiene while inspiring their imaginations through crayons and basic school supplies. No child should go without a pack of crayons that they can call their own – Thank you for joining us on our journey to ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn and grow through inspired thought.
