About Celebration of Life honoring Chris Shaughnessy

The one year anniversary of Chris' passing was February 17th. February 21st would have been his 36th birthday. As we approached the milestone of a year without him, we planned a fundraiser not only to raise as much money as we can for some incredible organizations, but also to honor his life, keep his memory alive, and provide something positive and fun for those who loved him to look forward to.

A donation will be made from cash raised at the door to the event to Little Hearts, Inc. Little Hearts, Inc. is a national organization providing support, education, resources, networking and hope to families affected by congenital heart defects. It is a charity that Chris was active in raising money for every October when we would both partake in the Hancock Street Pub Crawl.

The remainder of everything raised, will be donated to We Do Care. We Do Care is a 5013c nonprofic charity helping young widows, widowers, and their families. See the website link provided to find out more information as to how this organization was formed when Julie Enos lost her love while pregnant with their second child at 34 years old. This website is also a blog for the organization, that I contribute to along with Julie. There is a page on the site that also tells my story in more detail and gives some background on me and Chris.

We Do Care is not just a charity I chose randomly to donate to for this fundraiser. It is personal for me. I'm not sure words can describe how much We Do Care has helped me over the past year. I can still remember my dad walking up to my house the morning Chris passed. The very first thing I said to him was "I don't know how to do this".

And now I have an army of "widow warriors" as we call ourselves, at various stages in this journey, available for support whenever I need it. I can't thank you enough for helping us raise as much as possible for this cause, so We Do Care can help even more people.

Sincerely,
Katie Shaughnessy
