About Our Auction

Beginning on Sunday 23rd February, we - father and son, Bob and Josh Caplin, together with Bob's son in law, Stephen Goldman - will be embarking on the 92 in 92 football challenge – to visit all 92 football grounds from the Premier League to League Two in just 92 hours! We are doing so in order to raise at least £9,200 to support Chai Cancer Care and North London Hospice to mark 10 years since Roz Caplin, lost her battle with cancer. She was Mum to Deborah, Naomi, Rachel, Josh and Abby and wife to Bob.

As part of our challenge we have managed to get our hands on some fantastic football merchandise to be auctioned off and everything raised from this auction will be going to support both Chai and North London Hospice.

Both of these chosen charities were extremely supportive to our families during some of the more challenging times during mums illness. Chai Cancer Care provides free of charge, comprehensive, professional and expert services from 11 centres across the UK to the Jewish community affected by a cancer diagnosis. As Chai’s reputation has grown, so has the need for its services. Chai is actively supporting over 3,700 clients nationwide and the number continues to increase monthly. With no statutory funding, Chai must raise £3.3 million each year to run the organisation.

As our mum always took the utmost pride in her appearance, we have decided that monies raised from this challenge will go towards Chai’s ‘Image Resource Service’. A dedicated space where clients can address sensitive image issues and benefit from hair, wig, underwear, nail care and semi-permanent make-up expert advice.

North London Hospice cares and helps those with a potentially life-limiting illness who have specialist needs. People from all faiths and communities are made to feel welcome and they provide physical, emotional and spiritual care to patients and families, friends and carers. North London Hospice’s goal is to try and help patients live life to the full despite their illness. It costs more than £13m every year to fund their services, and all of their care is provided to the community free of charge. Our mum benefited from the palliative and end of life care whilst at home, and we are therefore seeking to raise money for this wonderful service.

On behalf of all of us and both charities, thank you for your support and your bids. It means a great deal to all of us.

Good luck!

North London Hospice is the local hospice for communities across Enfield, Barnet and Haringey. We provide end-of-life care for people with life-limiting illnesses and offer emotional, spiritual and practical support for patients and their families, friends and carers. Each year we support over 2,500 people at our centres in Finchley and Enfield, in the community and people’s own homes – and all this care is provided free of charge. It costs £13 million annually to provide our care free of charge, and we receive less than 40% of our funding from the NHS. Consequently, we rely on the generosity of people and businesses in our local community and elsewhere to meet the cost of caring for three out of four patients.
