Boat for Hope 2020

Every summer since 1999, BC's kids with special needs and their families are treated to a day of pirate-themed adventure on the high seas at Boat for Hope, a fundraiser in support of Variety - the Children’s Charity. The Boat for Hope committee also takes great pride knowing that over the past 22 years, this event has raised $2.5 million for Variety BC.

Due to COVID-19 and the restrictions put in place by the BC Health Authorities, it will not be possible to host the traditional Boat for Hope events in 2020. In it's place, we are hosting a drive-thru event on Sept 12th for Variety families and a virtual silent auction which would typically take place at our Skippers Banquet.

Through the generous support of the Boat for Hope committee, local skippers, the business community, and amazing volunteers, we are once again able to raise funds to change the lives of BC's kids with special needs.

For over 53 years Variety has been stepping in where healthcare ends, providing direct help to children with special needs in BC. In 2019 we supported over 4300 children and their families by providing access to the equipment, tools, services and specialized educational programs they need to survive and thrive. When a child with special needs has their unique needs met, they are able to participate in their society, which positively effects the entire community! Variety aspires to work to the greater goal of ensuring no child is left behind, regardless of economic or physical constraints.
