About Whistler Nordic Ski Club

The Whistler Nordics Ski Club is a non-profit organisation and 100% locally grown, and we help make cross country skiing available to the local community. We coach local youth programs at both Lost Lake and Whistler Olympic Park from December to March and we have a Masters program on Wednesday nights at WOP. We also run weekly Toonie races during January and February for all ages and we have started a dryland program in the Fall.

We have a great member base, but would like to grow our club and expand our programs so we can reach more of the local community.

Our vision is to offer more dryland and on snow programs, so we can attract and retain more youth participants in the sport and train more coaches so they can coach at community level to high performance sport.

The Club’s youth athlete/skill development program for athletes five to nineteen years of age and is aligned with Sport Canada/Cross Country Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Program. The Program provides instruction and coaching for youth new to the sport through to athletes training to compete at the Provincial Level. The youth program is designed so that one stage leads easily to the next, culminating with the talented DEVO athletes who are then in a good position to qualify for the BC Provincial Squads and team; thus the program provides a feeder for the National Development Centres.

As part of the Program athletes compete at local, regional, and provincial competitions and the Club is committed to hosting these events to promote the sport. The Whistler Nordics have collaborated with local Sea-To-Sky Clubs to form Callaghan Valley Cross Country to host National level events and provide certified volunteer officials for Nordic skiers from across the country to compete.
