WLC SPRING 2022 Silent Auction

All proceeds from the SPRING 2022 Silent Auction will go directly to the free adult literacy services offered by the Whatcom Literacy Council. Working with trained volunteers adults can choose one-to-one tutoring and/or small group classes to help them achieve their goals. With COVID health directives we have provided online services, with customized, creative learning plans for each learner.

The Whatcom Literacy Council works with trained volunteers to offer free literacy services to adults who wish to improve their basic literacy skills or learn English. Currently all of our programs are online, including one-to-one tutoring and small group classes. We focus on Whatcom County residents, addressing local needs by partnering with libraries, schools, churches and businesses. When volunteers help their neighbors achieve their goals, relationships are built that establish empathy and community connectiveness. Literacy is a platform for equity, something that cannot be taken away. Our free programs enhance academic skills and set people on a course for good jobs with better wages.

Our mission is to empower adults to achieve their goals and improve their lives through literacy. Our vision is of Whatcom County being a place where every adult has attained the literacy skills they need to thrive. Our mission and vision provide a framework that keeps us focused on a learner-centered program, serving our students as effectively and efficiently as possible.
