Every year we welcome over 400,000 people to Ottawa from around the globe, and invite them to learn about Canada's role in the Liberation of the Netherlands, while providing a fun, barrier-free flower festival, for 11 days and nights every May.
The National Capital Commissions has planted the tulips in the National Capital Region since 1946, and the Canadian Tulip Festival has celebrated them since 1953. We are a small charity, accomplishing a large task, and we rely on volunteers, sponsors, and public support in fundraisers just like these to help us bring our Heritage, Horticulture and Heros to life!

Nous sommes une petite charité qui accomplit une tâche immense et nous comptons sur des bénévoles, des commanditaires et le soutien du public pour des levées de fonds comme celles-ci pour nous aider à donner vie à notre patrimoine, à notre horticulture et à nos héros !
About Canadian Tulip Festival
The Canadian Tulip Legacy was established to celebrate the historic Royal gift of tulips from the Dutch to Canadians immediately following the Second World War as a symbol of international friendship. The Festival preserves the memorable role of the Canadian troops in the liberation of the Netherlands and Europe, as well as commemorates the birth of Dutch Princess Margriet in Ottawa during World War II—the only royal personage ever born in Canada.
The Canadian Tulip Legacy produces the Canadian Tulip Festival each Spring and has been celebrating the tulip, an international symbol of friendship and peace, since 1953.
