We’re excited about Daifukuji temple’s 3rd annual online auction and thank you for taking a look at our auction site. Live bidding starts Wed Oct 26, 9am Hawaii time. Until then, you can only view or donate. To those who’ve supported us in the past, please know that we are very grateful. To those who are new, we thank you for your interest in supporting us. Kokua is a Hawaiian word that means to help, give aid or assistance. The concept relates to pitching in, extending help to others for their own benefit and not for personal gain. Kokua also denotes a spirit of generosity, even self-sacrifice.

In order to submit a bid on an item, you must first register with 32auctions and provide your name, email, and password. They will email you to verify your information. You will be able to view items as they are posted. Once the auction goes live, you can log in and place your bids. Bidding will continue until the auction ends, at which time the winners are notified.

“Buy It Now” means that there is no bidding. When the auction begins, you pay the price asked and the item is yours. You may be able to buy more than one item of the same kind if available.

Only items that fit in a flat rate envelope or box will be mailed. The shipping charge is extra. If you wish to have an item shipped to you, we would determine the size of the box and ask you to use the “donate” box to pay the shipping cost.

You may pay for your winnings online or when you pick them up. We can take a check, no cash please.

Those who wish to support our fundraiser without purchasing anything may make a donation to Daifukuji Soto Mission using the “donate” box. All donations benefit our general fund and will be used to maintain and operate our 100+-year-old historic Buddhist temple.

The Daifukuji Sōtō Mission is a Zen Buddhist temple on the island of Hawaiʻi established in 1914 .

"Daifukuji" means The Temple of Great Happiness. Our temple was founded in 1914 in Honalo, Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii.

The temple, which holds tremendous significance as one of the oldest existing structures in Kona, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has received recognition as a Kona Heritage Building by the non-profit organization Pulama Ia Kona.

It is our vision:

To offer the teachings of the Buddha and Soto Zen practice to the community.
To provide a safe and peaceful temple environment for Buddhist study, practice, and other Dharma-related activities.
To work in harmony as a Sangha, with compassion, respect, and kindness to benefit all people, caring for their spiritual and social needs.
To cultivate an appreciation for the Buddhist way of life.
Inside our temple:

Enshrined in the main hall is the historical buddha Shakyamuni, who attained enlightenment and became a great teacher in India 2,600 years ago. To the right of Shakyamuni Buddha is the seated figure of Zen Master Dogen and to the left is Zen Master Keizan, both founders of our spiritual tradition. In the alcove to the right of the main altar are two more figures: Bodai Daruma Daishi (Bodhidharma), who carried the Teachings from India to China, and Daigen Shuri Bosatsu, the ever-vigilant protector of the temple and guardian of the Dharma.

Along with the temple, is the resident minister's house, the cultural hall, the social hall & kitchen.
We are trying our 3'rd online auction! The buildings need regular maintenance to keep them all looking and running smoothly. They are being fumigated and painted this year.
