Fundraiser in Support of Operation Smile Canada

Technorama is proud to support the meaningful work undertaken by Operation Smile Canada.

Did you know that, every three minutes, a child is born with a cleft lip and/or cleft palate? Annually, that is an estimated 175,200 children worldwide. Infants born with cleft conditions have nine times the risk of dying within the first year of life.

But you can offer them hope. With surgery, a child can have a brand-new, beautiful smile in as little as 45 minutes. Operation Smile exists to make sure everyone gets the safe corrective surgery they need wherever they live in the world. It is surgery that changes a child’s life forever… and it changes families, communities, countries and yes, the world. In high-income countries like Canada, surgery to fix cleft conditions is common and is usually done before a child is 18 months old. In low and middle-income countries, it can take years to receive treatment. Only 6.3% of an estimated 312.9 million surgical procedures performed each year go to the poorest third of the global population.

The Dental Industry Association of Canada is a non-profit organization founded in 1978 to serve as a unified voice for the Canadian dental industry, and as a professional leader in our community.

We support our members with networking events, collaborative projects, governmental advocacy, updates on regulatory affairs, education, market data, and other key resources.

On April 5-6, 2024, DIAC will host the 50th anniversary of Technorama, a milestone event that brings together dental industry stakeholders to explore innovations, engage in continuing education, and showcase new products. This tradeshow, with over 1,000 exhibitors and delegates, provides a unique platform for networking and collaboration within the dental community.

As part of our commitment to giving back, DIAC has chosen to collaborate with Operation Smile Canada, a charitable organization dedicated to providing free cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries to children and young adults globally. We believe that supporting this cause creates a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
