The Gathering Place Fundraiser Art Auction

This fundraiser is in support of Sooke "The Gathering Place" Senior drop-in and multigenerational activity centre which is an activities centre portion of the Elders' Complex being built in Sooke. The Gathering Place will provide a much-needed drop-in space for the community, space for activities, crafting, dining, games, and socializing.
For the fundraiser, artists worked “en plein air” (in the open air) creating art to contribute to the auction . The art can be viewed at the SAC Gallery at 2043 Church Road October 5 to 16 (Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 4pm) while simultaneously being auctioned on our online auction site. The mandate and purpose of the Sooke Arts Council is
– to encourage creative participation in and excellence in the arts
– to encourage the development of opportunities to perform and exhibit the arts
– act as a clearing house for information on the arts
– to bring to the attention of local, regional, provincial and federal authorities the artistic needs of the community

The Sooke Community Arts Council is a registered not for profit society funded by the BC Arts council and the District of Sooke. The arts council embraces all forms of the arts: visual arts, performing arts, literary arts and any other forms of art which may present themselves.
