About Georgia Conflict Center

Georgia Conflict Center (GCC) works to make peacemaking a practical reality for individuals and communities. Our mission is to reduce violence of all sorts, and we work to accomplish this through the realization of our core value of sharing the skills necessary for everyone to work towards a peaceful world.

We offer classes on communication and conflict in a variety of settings, including: neighborhoods, schools (with students and staff), prisons, jails, faith communities, businesses, and families. These classes work to develop individuals’ ability to handle conflict and adopt alternative strategies to difficult situations.

We also support communities in understanding how conflict can be useful as well as how to design restorative, human centered responses that repair harm and relationships and create plans for the future.

Current Offerings of GCC include:
• Year-long study of Nonviolent Communication
• Six week Introduction to Non-Violent Communication classes that teach practical conflict resolution skills
• Conflict de-escalation training to school social workers and counselors
• Restorative Justice training and facilitation in conjunction with schools and the juvenile court
• Weekend workshops on special applications of Nonviolent Communication, including parenting, partner relationships, workplace conflict, and social change
• Support of organizations seeking to disrupt the school-to-prison pipeline
• Consultation and facilitation with businesses and other organizations in directly addressing conflicts or designing conflict management systems
• Conflict awareness training in schools, including information on structural violence and bias
• De-escalation training for self-defense
• Conflict Coaching
• Weekend workshops on Restorative Circles
