About Our Auction
The Nantucket Preservation Trust's annual SENSE OF PLACE EXHIBITION & AUCTION is a carefully curated exhibition featuring work by island artists and artisans inspired by or iconically associated with Nantucket’s unique “sense of place”. Many of the items in the Exhibition were crafted specially for this event. The annual week-long Exhibition is available for viewing in August at historic Sherburne Hall and the exhibition items are auctioned off online. Bidding begins on August 8th at 10AM EST and ends on August 15th at 8PM. The goal of the auction is to raise $30,000 to augment the income from the annual August Fête -- our single largest fundraiser designed to help cover NPT's annual operational costs to run our programs.
About Nantucket Preservation Trust
NANTUCKET PRESERVATION TRUST preserves, promotes, and protects the island’s unique architectural heritage and sense of place through advocacy, education, documentation, and preservation action.
Our built environment is a direct link to Nantucket’s past, and buildings tell our island’s stories. Through our preservation easements, house histories and markers, annual Preservation Symposium, scholarships, and Awards program, we help ensure that the stories embodied in Nantucket’s architecture will be preserved for future generations.
