About Our Auction

Renovating Town Hall

Located in the heart of Julian is the iconic Town Hall building that sits on the corner of Washington and Main. This lovely historic structure serves not only thousands of visitors but also residents for whom few options exist for meetings and community activities. However, Town Hall is crumbling and in desperate need of repairs.

Built in 1914, it was taken over the Julian Chamber of Commerce in 1926 which has since operated it as a public service. People use it extensively for everything from public meetings to art shows, Oktoberfest celebrations, musical performances, and wedding receptions. Now this beautiful old building needs significant repairs to keep it in good shape well into the future.

Over the years the building has seen several improvements however much of it remains original and in dire need of restoration. Specific areas include the foundation under the porch, the front basement, exterior and interior of the hall, and the parking lot behind the building.

Proposed renovations are expected to cost approximately $180,000.

With restoration people will be able to use the commercial kitchen and stove as it was intended. The wooden floors upstairs will shine again for dancing without people fearing they might catch their heels in the missing planks. The interior stairs leading to the downstairs will be made safe. The holes in the side of the structure will be filled in, the emergency doors will be fixed, and the entire building will be repainted inside and out.
