About Ilanka Cultural Center

Ilanka Cultural Center (ICC) is part of the Native Village of Eyak's (NVE) Cultural Department. NVE is a federally recognized tribe residing on the unceded territories of the deXunhyuu (Eyak people), based in present day Cordova, Alaska, and is comprised of four diverse cultures: Eyak, Sugpiaq/Alutiiq/Chugach region people, Tlingit, and Athabaskan. ICC's purpose is to identify, record, collect, preserve, exhibit, and demonstrate items that serve to illustrate the life and history of NVE. We were formed in May of 2004 to help teach, promote, and showcase our Indigenous Alaskan culture. ICC preserves the traditions of our people and promotes a greater awareness to the rich cultural legacy of our Indigenous peoples from the Eastern Prince William Sound region, west of the Copper River Delta. ICC's gift shop showcases handmade items made by local Cordovan and Alaska Native artists. We offer many cultural classes throughout the year to help teach art-forms that have been forbidden for many years and our museum showcases items from our region that help edify our history and cultural way of life.
