About Our Auction

Nuclear weapons pose an unacceptable threat to people everywhere. This is why, on 7 July 2017, 122 nations voted to adopt the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

Australia has not yet joined the Ban Treaty, despite the vast majority of Australians supporting this.

By purchasing artwork, you will help to ensure the Australian Government signs and ratifies this crucial global agreement, which prohibits the use, production and stockpiling of nuclear weapons and lays the foundations for their total elimination.

With the Doomsday Clock sitting at 2 minutes to midnight and a looming federal election, the time is right to raise the pressure.

The Treaty is on track to become international law within the next two years; it's crucial that Australia joins the right side of history.

About International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons

The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons is a global grassroots movement for total nuclear disarmament through a legally binding and verifiable treaty.

In July 2017, 122 nations voted to adopt the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. This treaty bans the production, testing, use and possession of nuclear weapons, and establishes a path for their elimination.

ICAN was launched in 2007 in Melbourne, Australia, as an initiative of the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), a global federation of medical professionals. Today more than 500 organisations in 100 countries are part of ICAN. We provide a voice to the overwhelming majority of people across the globe who support nuclear abolition.

There is no other weapon that can kill hundreds of millions of people in a few hours and bring about the end of human civilization. Nuclear weapons are illegal, immoral and genocidal. They have no legitimate purpose, and are futile against any of today's real security threats, such as climate change, poverty, over-population and pandemics. In fact, they divert funds needed to address these problems.

ICAN is generating an irresistible groundswell of public opposition to nuclear weapons, in all countries. We aim to inspire political leaders to join the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons as a vital step to eliminate these bombs before they are used again. Together we must work for one future, with zero nuclear weapons.
