As 2020 began, Gibsons Community Building Society was extremely optimistic with the organization’s upward trajectory. However, the global pandemic challenged us to pause and re-imagine how we deliver programs, care for our ocean, create opportunities for social enterprise, offer safe public spaces, inspire the next generation of marine biologists, support our Public Market merchants and customers, engage our volunteers, donors and partners, and raise much needed funds. Through it all, one thing stood out clearly – we are better when we work together.
As we start to recover from mandated restrictions and welcome the community back into the Market and to our events, such as the Night Markets, it is obvious that the economic impact of the pandemic remains. We were fortunate to qualify for government programs, which supported us through 2020 and 2021, but now that they have ended, we face significant financial challenges. It is only through the added support of Donors, such as you, that we can meet our goals.
Our 2022 Goal:
We have set an optimistic goal of $50,000 for our 2022 Fund-a-Need Campaign which raises funds to support the delivery of our programs and activities, such as:

About Gibsons Public Market
The Gibsons Public Market and the Nicholas Sonntag Marine Education Centre are operated by the Gibsons Community Building Society, a volunteer-led not-for-profit organization established in 2014.
The vision of the Society, in partnership with the Town of Gibsons, Community Futures and Sunshine Coast Community Foundation, is to operate a vibrant year-round community gathering place, learning destination and public market—a unique place that enriches the lives of Sunshine Coast residents, families, visitors, and newcomers… for generations to come.
