This auction is a fundraiser for the First Cong youth Work Camp service trip. In June 2018 our youth are heading to Heifer International’s ranch in Arkansas. During this immersive week they’ll learn about global poverty relief and ecological sustainability, while serving in a rural agricultural setting. Through the Global Village simulation they’ll experience what it’s like for people around the world who live in poverty - carrying water long distances to their homes, choosing between medicine for parents or food for children. They’ll learn about the effects of large-scale farming on the health of our planet and workers. They’ll also learn about sustainable alternatives like organic farming and education in ‘developed’ and developing nations.

This experience is a powerful tradition of Work Camp, and creates intensely compassionate and inspired catalysts for a more sustainable future.

THANK YOU for your support!

About First Congregational UCC Church

First Congregational Church is a progressive Christian Church committed to: Faith as a Journey, Compassionate Service, and Inclusion of All.

Youth Mission: To enable our youth to be the best versions of themselves; to engage 6th to 12th grade youth in faith formation, fellowship and life guidance. Middle School explores the stories of Jesus, his life, and his times to internalize his teachings of love and inclusion. High School teens apply the Christian stories and values as guides to holistic living. By graduation, we hope that youth know themselves as spiritual beings and develop a personal faith and relationship with God.

This year we’re enriching the ministry with more opportunities for deepening faith and friendships. One highlight is that Sunday mornings focus on spiritual growth and monthly Youth Groups focus on community bonding. In addition, all youth attend worship the first Sunday of each month to be an integral part of the life of our church.
