About Our Auction

Mississippi Valley Field Naturalists accepted a collection of field guides and birding books assembled by Linda Ready.

The quality and quantity of the collection is unusual as it traces the history of field guides. Beginning with the very first modern field guide, Roger Tory Petersens original A Field Guide To The Birds: Giving Field Marks Of All Species Found In Eastern North America, Peterson, First Edition, 4th state, 1939 to the proliferation of guides available today.

Whether you are planning a trip abroad or are passionate about a particular family of birds - such as parrots or crows, there is likely a book that will peak your interest and broaden your field identification skills.

All books are essentially untouched and are in very fine condition.

Funds collected from the sale of these items will be used to support youth programs sponsored by the Mississippi Valley Field Naturalists. In particular, the funds collected during the auction will contribute to a paid summer student position at the Ottawa Valley Wild Bird Care Centre.
