About Farming Hope
Farming Hope is a garden-to-table job training nonprofit for formerly incarcerated or homeless San Franciscans. Our paid Apprenticeship program helps adults transition to personal wellbeing and life sustaining employment. Our Apprentices cook nourishing meals for food insecure neighbors using high quality recovered food that would otherwise have gone to landfill.
Most direct service organizations focus on immediate needs without providing a structured path toward self-sufficiency and community building. Farming Hope addresses this gap through a community-based model with three main initiatives: well-supported job training and transitional employment; healthy, nourishing meals for food insecure community members, and waste reduction through food recovery. This work is accomplished at our community food hub Refettorio San Francisco, our social enterprise at Manny’s Restaurant, and in our training garden.
We work with many partners to achieve our work, thank you to our Refettorio partner, Food for Soul! Food for Soul is a project of Lara Gilmore and Massimo Bottura. Learn more: https://www.foodforsoul.it/

About Our Auction
La Festa di Farming Hope is a celebration in support of our community food hub Refettorio San Francisco. Our annual fundraiser will honor the community investments and impact we have made together to restore and rebuild the spirit of community in San Francisco. We will celebrate with music, create connections with our programs and community, and of course savor delicious food from our favorite Guest Chefs like Traci Des Jardins and Bill Corbett **and restaurants including A16, Flour + Water, Zuni Café,** and more to come.
Silent Auction items include: a guided tour of Alice Waters' Edible Schoolyard Project in Berkeley paired with dinner at Chez Panisse; a one-on-one virtual cooking class with Massimo Bottura; and a two night stay at Casa Maria Luigia in Italy including a tour of the Ferrari Museum.
Funds raised from our Silent Auction support our job training, food recovery, and free community meals program.
