About Our Auction

FAHM's 4th Annual Fundraiser held on April 6, 2019 was a huge success!

Thanks to your generosity the funds raised will be used towards our upcoming conference which will be held on May 6-10th at Haiti's only midwifery school: Institut National Superieur de Formation Sage Femme (INSFSF). Twenty-six midwifery students and 4 practicing midwives will be taught emergency obstetrical skills: didactic as well as a simulation lab so they can practice and perfect their skills.

You also still have a chance to bid on some of our fantastic silent auction items. Please browse and bid on what interests you. Thanks and good luck!

May 5th is International Day of the Midwife. Wishing all midwives across the world a happy day!!

About Foundation for Advancement of Haitian Midwives

Founded in 2013, the Foundation for Advancement of Haitian Midwives (FAHM) is a charitable 501(c)(3) and educational non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and aiding Haitian midwives, midwifery associations, education programs and midwifery students living in Haiti, where there are high rates of maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. Haiti’s maternal mortality rate is the highest in the Western hemisphere: 359 deaths/100,000 live births (as compared to 20.7/100,00 in the USA). Approximately 36 percent of births take place in a health facility. Most births are attended by traditional matrons with no formal education or training. There is a lack of available sexual and reproductive health care. About half the population has no access to basic health services at all.

FAHM offers support and guidance to Haitian midwives and students in order to decrease Haiti’s high maternal and infant mortality rates. FAHM focuses on providing the much requested and needed continuing education of the latest evidence based research to help the midwives stay current in maintaining their skills, knowledge base and thereby strengthening the workforce. We pride ourselves on helping them address their self identified, immediate needs and sourcing locally whenever possible which helps build a sustainable model.
