This auction is to support the legacy of a lifelong friend and fishing buddy, Brett Floden.  A fund in Brett's name has been set up to support the Iowa DNR/Story County Conservation walleye rearing project at Hickory Grove Park.  The goal of this project is to rear, stock, and develop Walleye fisheries in Story County lakes (Hickory Grove Lake, West Peterson Pit, and possibly Dakins Lake) for anglers.  

To fully honor Brett, we've put together a "Walk in Brett's Footsteps," experience at The Decoy Lodge on Leech Lake.  Brett stayed at the Decoy Lodge in 2017 and 2018 during the fall walleye bite.  This experience will give the winner the opportunity to fish walleyes with a Leech Lake guide, gamble at the Northern Lights Casino and pheasant hunt at Bader's Pheasant Run, all of Brett's favorite things.

Auction includes;

Three night stay at The Decoy Lodge in Walker, Minnesota, October 7-10, 2021 (ISU Football Bye Weekend) Dates are not transferrable.

4 hour guided fishing trip with the Leech Lake Guide Team (Limit 3 adults)

$100 credit at the Northern Lights Casino, Walker, Minnesota (Must be over 21)

$100 credit at Bader's Pheasant Run, Federal Dam, Minnesota

Auction FAQ's

What is the starting bid for this auction?  This auction has a $500 starting bid, retail value is over $1600.

​What is the Decoy Lodge?  The Decoy Lodge is privately owned two bedroom rental on Leech Lake.  It is one of the 10 units that make up the Bluewater Lodge.

How many people does the Decoy Lodge accommodate?  The Decoy Lodge can accommodate up to 8 people.  The lodge has one master bedroom queen bed and full bath, a loft bedroom has two queen beds and a full bathroom.  Living room has a pull out couch.

Are boats included?  No, guests wishing to spend time on the water are welcome to bring their own boat (Slip and shore power provided).  Boats can also be rented from J&K Marine in Walker.

What's included at The Decoy Lodge?  The Decoy Lodge is one of the best rental units on Leech Lake, linens and towels are provided.  Lodge has a full kitchen with new appliances, new carpet, gas fireplace, Weber gas grill, washer/dryer, WiFi and Dish Network.  For more details, please visit www.decoylodge.com

What is there to do in Walker?  For a town of 941 people, Walker offers a lot for visitors. Downtown Walker features the Portage Brewing Company, WineDown Wine Bar, Reed's Sporting Goods, Benson's Food Emporium, Village Square Pizza, The Piggy BBQ and lots of shopping options.

What is the weather like in October?  That's a tricky one, the weather can be in the beautiful in the 70's or snowing in the 30's.  Usually, highs are in the 50's and lows in the 30's.

Tell me about Bader's Pheasant Run.  Bader's is located 30 miles from the Decoy Lodge in Federal Dam, Minnesota.  Bader's has six fields with chukar and pheasants, dogs are also available for rent.  Firearms and Ammunition are not included.

Tell me more about the Leech Lake Guide Team.  The LLGT is owned by Austin Michaud, 4th generation Leech Lake fishing guide.  Guided trip is for a maximum of (3) adults.  The exact date and time will need to need to be confirmed within 7 days of the auction end.

What is the Northern Lights Casino?  The Northern Lights was one of Brett's favorite places when visiting the Decoy Lodge.  Its located 1 mile away and features slot machines, black jack and poker tables.
