About Our Auction

Losing someone is never easy, and for those who were lucky enough to know and love Christopher Ryan Perri, it was even harder. Chris was a husband, father, friend, and fisherman. In January of 2021, Chris's courageous, seven-month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia came to an end.
Chris will always be in our thoughts and forever in our hearts and that is why this tournament will be aimed towards keeping Chris's memory alive with one of the things he loved most, fishing. We will be donating proceeds from this tournament to the Chris Perri Memorial Foundation and Cancer Research.

About Christopher Perri Memorial Billfish Tournament

The Christopher Perri Memorial Billfish Tournament is the legacy of a husband, father, son, and friend. Chris was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) at age 33 and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 8, 2021 after a courageous seven-month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).

One of Chris' dreams was for others to live in a world where there are cures for cancer. The funds from this tournament directly benefit Leukemia research at UNC Lineberger's Comprehensive Cancer Center under the stewardship of his oncologist, Dr. Josh Zeidner.

The First Annual Christopher Perri Symposium on Cancer Research was held earlier this year at UNC. It brought together some of the brightest minds in the cancer research field where advancements in treatments and outcomes were shared. The findings were met with excitement and created even more motivation to continue fighting and pushing forward.

"Nearly 40% of all new cancer therapies approved since 2000 were first discovered and approved for a blood cancer." (Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Research) Cancer touches everyone and blood cancer research truly matters to everyone.

We are honored to continue giving back in Chris' memory. Helping others was part of who he was and the funds raised through this tournament are truly making an impact.
