BLRR 2018 Spring Auction

In recent years, Brookline has had a considerable number of dogs who required extensive, specialized Vet services. During 2017, our Vet bills were over $112,000. In January and February this year, our Vet bills were over $16,000.

A few of the dogs currently in our care for whom we are incurring extensive Vet bills include Colin (pictured, left), who required surgery on both knees to correct luxating patellas that occurred when his kneecaps were dislocated from their normal anatomic position in the groove of the thigh bone; Ben and Gracie, who came to us heartworm positive; Maxwell Smart, who required xrays and ultimately surgery for an ACL tear; and Teddy, who is undergoing treatment for an autoimmune disease. So often, dogs are surrendered to rescues because their families simply can't afford specialized veterinary care. We are thrilled to be able to step in to help these dogs in need, but our ability to provide this care is limited by the donations we receive. Our adoption donations do not even come close to covering the expenses we incur in helping the dogs in our care live the lives they deserve.

100% of the proceeds from our Spring Auction will be put towards our Vet bills. Our hope is that the funds we raise will allow us to continue to provide the same level of care to many more dogs throughout the year! So please, BID EARLY, BID OFTEN, BID HIGH!
