Soto Mission of Aiea 2022 Auction

Currently, the social hall and Japanese School building accommodate various extracurricular activities offered to people of all ages. These structures were built almost a century ago, and are in need of costly repairs and upgrades. As Taiheiji looks to grow and increase its positive presence in the Aiea community, the more sustainable option and viable solution for the future is the construction of the Soto Mission of Aiea Activity Center. This will be a new, two-story multipurpose building. The ground floor will be the Taiheiji Adult Care Center, which will provide a friendly, comfortable and nurturing environment for our kupunas of the temple and Aiea community. The second floor will host two activity rooms with ample space for various groups to use simultaneously. There are also plans for a Zazendo (meditation hall) and a large meeting room with seating for over 50 people. Funds raised from this auction will go towards construction costs for the new Activity Center.

The Soto Mission of Aiea is a 501(3)c non-profit organization whose mission is to practice, promote, and perpetuate the Buddha's teaching of love, mercy, and compassion. The temple, located in the historic town in Aiea on the island of Oahu, not only serves the religious needs of its growing congregation, but is committed to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the people of the Aiea community to gather.
