Paws for the Cause

ASTRO Foundation was founded in 2012 by a group of animal advocates in Oakdale, CA to rescue as many homeless animals as possible and ultimately build a modern no-kill shelter for the community.

As with many charities, our primary sources of income were meaningfully disrupted with the outbreak of COVID-19. Our St. Catty's Day fundraiser has been postponed until 2021 and the ASTRO Thrift & Gift Shop shuttered its doors for months, now re-opening at partial capacity to ensure the health and safety of our customers and volunteers.

At the same time, we faced a significant increase in the demand for services, driven in part by the closure of all area shelters. The end result has been the perfect storm - less money in and more money going out.

As a result, we need your help! Every dollar raised through this auction goes directly towards the quality care and well-being of the animals rescued. Many are in our care longer, as we navigate safe adoption protocol. Help us continue this critical work and contribute in Paws for the Cause!

Rescuing Animals - Engaging Students - Enhancing Community

ASTRO Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) volunteer-based animal welfare organization dedicated to rescuing homeless dogs and cats from overcrowded shelters in the Oakdale/Riverbank area.

By working with a network of volunteers, foster caregivers, and local veterinarians, ASTRO Foundation is able to rescue hundreds of animals every year. We provide these animals with care and temporary homes until we can place them into their permanent homes.
