Get ready for the 6th Annual Southborough Education Foundation (SEF) Spelling Bee! This year, we are excited to provide online access to the silent auction in the weeks leading up to the event. The online portion of the auction will close on Thursday, March 7th at 11:00 pm. The leading bids from the online auction will then be transferred to the live auction that will continue at the Spelling Bee on Friday, March 8th from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the Trottier Middle School. Doors open at 6:00 pm to enter raffle drawings and to bid on silent auction items. The winning bids will be those that are the highest bids when the silent auction closes on Friday, March 8th during the Spelling Bee Intermission. All proceeds from this event go towards funding innovative educational programs in Southborough public schools.
Southborough Education Foundationedit
The Southborough Education Foundation (SEF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching, enhancing and supporting Southborough's public school system. SEF seeks to foster academic excellence in our public schools by awarding grants for innovative and creative programs that support the goals and ongoing priorities of the district. Programs such as these would not normally be funded via traditional school budgets. The Foundation seeks grant proposals that will motivate faculty and students by creating opportunities for inventive educational programming, multidisciplinary team projects, team-teaching across grade levels, and community-focused activities.
The Spelling Bee, which is held in late-February or early-March every year, with its associated raffle and silent auction, is SEF’s highly-anticipated fundraising event. The spelling teams consist of faculty and staff from Southborough Schools, and students are invited to cheer on their favorite team from the audience. The team-names and costumes have become as much of a highlight as the competition itself.
