The 21st MAF Auction for Education

Architecture plays a significant role in our local culture, influences our sense of well-being, strengthens community investment, and serves a source of pride for those who live, work and play in our cities and neighborhoods. Communities, corporations, and individuals all benefit from architecture, and its impact on our lives.

The Michigan Architectural Foundation’s (MAF) annual Auction for Education provides funds to Michigan non-profit organizations which offer architectural tours, lectures, programming, and events that illustrate how architecture makes our lives and our communities better, and which ignite the public’s interest in our built environment.

Your support helps provide opportunities for programs such as:

* “Eero Saarinen:  The Architect that Saw the Future” – documentary on the life of the legendary architect shown on PBS’s ‘American Masters’ series.
* Architecture-based educational programs for young students, and scholarships for college architecture students.
* Earl Young: The Wizard of Boulder Park” – documentary on the self-taught home designer and builder of the whimsical mushroom homes of Charlevoix, Michigan. 2016 Michigan Emmy Award - Documentary, Historical - Bon Ami Filmworks, LLC.
* Kalamazoo’s ‘Learn Where You Live’ exhibition, with SW Chapter AIAMI.
* Free architecture camps for minority students interested in architecture.
* Flint’s Architectural Historian presentation, with Flint Chapter AIAMI.
* Rae Dumke Collection, the '100 Essential Architecture Books' that enrich, inform, and entertain architecture fans of all ages, and 'Build Imagination' books, for preschool through 8th graders, which spark young imaginations around architecture, history and travel. Both collections are available statewide via the Michigan Library Network.
