The 'Mother' of All Fundraisers

Spectrum Mothers (www.spectrummothers.ca) provides support and mentorship to new mothers on the North Shore who are in crisis. For example, single parents, those fleeing abuse, living with past trauma,   suffering from postpartum depression, anxiety and other mental health challenges.
Over the past 17 years we have become a vital community resource connecting families and providing support and encouragement with compassion and dignity.  Our ability to step into critical, high-risk situations is both lifesaving and life changing.  We really do make a difference.  Working closely with referring organizations on the North Shore we can identify families at risk and put into place a plan to provide optimum support.  Spectrum is funded by government grants and donations from community groups and individuals.
While each family and situation is different, the support we provide makes a profound difference to the families we support and our community. Demonstrated outcomes of the success of our program come from the testimonials of the mothers we support:  

• A single mother with a history of substance abuse and trauma gained the confidence she needed to move forward with her life and she and her child are now both thriving.
• A mother with four children under the age of four who struggled with extreme anxiety and found the support of the caregiver helped her maintain her mental health.  
• A new immigrant to Canada with no family or support had a traumatic delivery and received the practical and emotional support she needed to overcome her isolation and find her way in her new community. 

With our mandate of prevention before intervention, we are encouraged as we watch mothers reach out to their community, many returning to school and work, resulting in a healthier community.
 The money raised by your donation will go directly to reaching mothers in crisis on the North Shore with emotional, practical, one on one support.

Working closely with other organisations on the North Shore we are able to identify families at risk and put into place a plan to provide optimum support. While each family and situation is different, the support we provide makes a big difference to the families we support and the community. Below are some examples of ways we provide support in our community.

· Providing support to mothers facing difficult circumstances such as post-partum depression or other medical challenges.
· Providing support to mothers fleeing abusive relationships.
· Providing support to families with children with disabilities, developmental delays or behavioral challenges.
· Providing support to teenage mothers with little or no support.
