About Our Auction
Thank you for finding your way to our auction site! The bids you make and the money you spend help fund important work in the village of Jambiani, on the Island of Zanzibar, Tanzania. Thanks to our generous donors, we have many fantastic items for you to bid on again this year! We are so grateful to each and every person and business who donated items for our auction!
The money we raise will go towards two areas: our ongoing breakfast program at the primary school and three pre-schools in Jambiani (a healthy breakfast helps children focus and learn); and to purchase solar cookers for the eight women who cook breakfast for over 650 children to use.
So now, it's up to you! Bid, bid and bid some more! Have fun and remember it's all for a great cause!
Asante sana from all the Signs of Hope in Africa Board Members!
About Signs of Hope in Africa
We are a Canadian not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and their families living in Jambiani, Tanzania. We are based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
In 2003, our founder, Kristi Falconer, spent 2 months volunteering in Jambiani, working with Deaf children and teaching English to elders in the village. It was during this time that Kristi identified key struggles villagers faced in meeting everyday needs. She quickly realized that some basic projects could provide assistance to meet those needs.
Signs of Hope in Africa began to take shape. Projects to meet basic needs expanded into projects that enable villagers to develop economic self-sufficiency using locally available resources.
With successful implementation of each project, the quality of life for villagers in Jambiani slowly improves. With improvement comes growth that opens opportunities for the villagers and the community, and spills over to neighbouring regions.
Your support is making a positive difference for the lives of many children and their families. We look forward to sharing many more beginnings with you as we continue our work.
