The Sweetest Little Thing Art Auction

The Sweetest Little Thing is the most important annual fundraising event for The Owens Art Gallery and Struts Gallery & Faucet Media Arts Centre in Sackville, NB. Every dollar raised goes directly to supporting programming at both galleries.

Pre-event bidding for The Sweetest Little Thing Art Auction will end today at 3:00 PM AST. The online auction will transition to a live event that begins tonight at 7:30 PM.

Unable to attend the live event? Proxy bids placed in the online auction will be carried forward to the live auction where we will bid on your behalf in $10 increments up to your maximum bid. You have until 3:00 PM AST to enter proxy bids in the online auction.

What is a Proxy Bid? A proxy bid allows you to enter the maximum amount you are willing to spend and we will bid for you up to that amount. For example, if an item is currently selling for $20 and you enter a proxy bid of $50, we will bid for you in $10 increments until the selling price goes over $50. At that point, you will be outbid and someone else will be the leading bidder. You will never owe more than your maximum proxy bid amount.

Auction Timeline
7 February, 9:00 am*: Online bidding begins.
14 February, 3:00 pm: Online bidding ends. Leading high bids become opening bids at the live auction. All proxy bids, whether online or in person, must be received by this time.
14 February, 7:30 pm: Live auction begins. Proxy bids are carried out against live bids.
15 February: Winning Proxy Bidders are notified.

This year, The Sweetest Little Thing will once again take place entirely online, with an online auction accompanied by a Virtual Variety Show featuring musical performances from Wolf Castle, Shotgun Jimmie, Keeper E., Colleen (Coco) Collins and appearances from artists, community members, and friends of the Owens, including Melanie Colosimo, Wit López, Emily Critch, Miranda Bellamy and Amanda Fauteux—plus a few other surprises for good measure!

This year’s musical performances are sponsored by Sappyfest, and Sackville residents are invited to buy raffle tickets for an epic cake donated by Cranewood on Main Bakery and Café.

Emceed by Geordie Miller and Tori Weldon, and directed by Matt Tunnacliffe, SLT 2022 promises to be just as warm and fuzzy as last year’s event.

This event is made possible thanks to the generosity of local, national, and internationally recognized artists who have established connections with our galleries and who are part of our community.
