Tikkun Ha-Schmear

Thank you for supporting our auction as a part of Tikkun Ha-Schmear, a lively and delicious fundraiser benefiting Tikkun Ha-Ir!

 Tikkun HaSchmear (schmear coming from the yiddish word for a spread- as in cream cheese or in this case, joy) is a chance to gather as a community- around bagels and lox, and the work of Tikkun Ha-Ir during the fall harvest holiday Sukkot.

We will celebrate the bounty of the harvest, especially as we conclude the Veggie Chop Shop season, reflect on Executive Director Sami Stein Avner’s decade of leadership as she departs for a new chapter, and enjoy music and an exciting silent auction.

Tikkun Ha-Ir will also honor Barbara Levin as the recipient of the Judy Baruch Legacy Award. Judy Baruch is the founding executive director of Tikkun Ha-Ir whose legacy in bringing the various ends of the Jewish community together in study, action and civic engaged exemplifies the very core of Tikkun Ha-Ir’s work.

Tikkun Ha-Ir of Milwaukee engages our local Jewish community to be active, thoughtful residents of the Milwaukee area. By working with other Jewish and local service organizations, we strive to alleviate the pressing needs of those most vulnerable in our community.
