About Our Auction

FUNDRAISING UPDATE!
Shortly after the raffle event ended we hit our $20k fundraising goal!!

Words cannot explain what a relief this is for me. All funds made going forward will be saved for next year's ongoing medical expenses which are likely to be similar. I hope to be able to purchase better insurance going forward next year or any additional out of pocket costs for this one.

I could not believe the kindness of friends from all walks of life, my family, my community here in Ypsilanti, and complete strangers who worked so hard, were so generous and packed the house to save my ass. The gratitude I feel has been overwhelming. A huge thank you to everyone who made this happen.

I especially want to thank Rachel Parke, Elizabeth Warren and Kattee Forche for organizing such a difficult project, the anonymous matching sponsor who donated five thousand dollars, our incredible sponsors VG Kids who donated thousands of dollars in shirts, services and auction goods, too many artists and local entrepreneurs here to mention who gladly donated time, services and more beautiful goods to the event than we could take on.

It has helped me see so much light in a dark time. We had so many donations from the arts community that we had too many to process them in time and not enough space to put them all out. We decided to move some of the items into an online auction after the event.

Welcome to that auction!

We chose a few big ticket items that might take you more time to mull over in addition to some fun local artist bundles and some services of interest to the creative community. Items may be added throughout the day on Friday, so check back for updates!

You can find photos of auction goods all weekend long by looking up the hashtag #savemarcysass on instagram where our fundraising coordinators will be sharing goods up for grabs. Happy bidding!

About Save Marcy's Ass

Hello friends,
In the last days of 2018 I was diagnosed with brain cancer and started an aggressive treatment plan that included surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.

I carry health insurance like many of the self-employed, through the Affordable Care Act. Due to changes over the last few years in the ACA my premiums and deductible have sky rocketed and I have accumulated thousands of dollars in debt over the last several months due to surgery and treatment for this disease. In an effort to be transparent in the hopes you might look more closely at your own health insurance situation, my current tab sits at just under $20,000 for 2018/2019 deductibles.

Several of my nearest and dearest have offered to throw a fundraiser to help me pay off this debt and give me a clean slate to continue down my path against brain cancer.

Artists from all walks of life, some of whom I have never met, have donated their time and talent to this endeavor. Most of items are one of a kind treasures made lovingly by friends who live around the corner and throughout the midwest. I have never felt so loved as I have during this time of transition in my life.

The outpouring of support along with a soft place to land in a terrible time has left my heart full of gratitude, as I was already facing my mom's diagnosis of the same disease earlier the same year. Doctors believe we were exposed to an environmental incident that caused our cancer along with much higher than average brain cancer rates in others where I grew up.

The support of my communities today has helped surround me with so much light in this world while I try turn my attention away from the darkness that left this disease at my door and I thank you all for that.
xo
