About Our Auction

The goal of the festival is to encourage a love of reading and writing by bringing in dynamic, award-winning authors and illustrators to interact with students and teachers. The three-day festival will be held September 22-24, 2016. The first two days are for children, who attend AT NO CHARGE. Over 12,000 children get to participate. The festival strives to make a positive impact on students grades K-12 by hosting a three day event with a variety of opportunities to hear presenters speak on the importance of joy and literacy. The festival enables students gin grades K-8 and their teachers to interact with nationally known authors, illustrators, and storytellers during the first two days at no charge. Attendees have the opportunity to appreciate literature, understand the experience of others, and respond via the multiple sign systems of the humanities and arts. This auction helps us ensure that we can continue to offer these opportunities to over 12,000 children at no charge to them. Projected costs for each year of the festival range over $100,000.
