About Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce

We represent the Put-in-Bay business community in promoting Put in Bay and the Bass Islands as a vacation destination to tour groups, school groups, couples, families, and friends. Get away for a day, the weekend, or the entire summer and escape to an island in Lake Erie. Put-in-Bay, Ohio, on South Bass Island has been a vacation destination since the mid-1800's, and was a favorite spot during the Victorian era when steamers carried thousands of tourists between Lake Erie's Ports, and the Lake Erie Islands. Detroit, Toledo, Cleveland, and Buffalo all had steamships bringing their citizens to Put-in-Bay. Always known for its laid back, and fun loving nature, Put-in-Bay see about 750,000 visitors each summer resort season. Businesses begin opening weekends in April, and most businesses are open daily by the end of May. Peak season for visitation is June through July, but there are lots of fun activities in the fall, including Historical Weekend, New Year's at the Bay, Half-Way to St. Patty's Day, The Island Clambake, Miller Boat Line's 5K at the Bay, the Island Wine Festival, and Island Oktoberfest. Known for a diverse range of live musical entertainment, bars, and a party scene, Put-in-Bay also sees tens of thousands of families, school field trips, and tour groups each season. Home to Perry's Victory & International Peace Memorial, entrusted to the care of the National Park Service, Put-in-Bay also has a 6,000 square foot historical museum, several historic home tours, a wildlife and nature center, and aquatic resource center, two caves to explore, two wineries, and lots of quaint gift and souvenir shops. Put-in-Bay also has lots of recreational activities, including kayaking, swimming, jet skiing, para-sailing, boating, fishing, biking, and hiking. The Put in Bay Chamber of Commerce also sponsors about a dozen events, and festivals each summer, including a Founder's Day celebration, a golf tournament, a motorcycle event, an annual Pyrate Fest, a July 4th concert, and an art show.
